The South Charlotte area's growth has been ongoing for a number of years. Much of it centered along Pineville-Matthews Road until the early 90's. That's when the the Harris and Bissell families decided to combine their efforts to begin development of 2,000 acres their families owned which they called Ballantyne
Their vision was to create what some have called an edge city where people could Live, Work, Play and Thrive. The scope of this plan as it developed was one of the most intensive projects in Charlotte at that time. It consisted of several resort like apartment communities, town homes, several desirable single family home communities, Ballantyne County Club, shopping and dining locations, two YMCA's, walking trails, schools, medical parks and the corporate park which has gained an international reputation. For over 20 years Ballantyne has been the growth engine for the entire area. Today, under the ownership of Northwood exciting developments are in the works. They have engaged an international development team to create an exciting new vision for Ballantyne. This will certainly enhance the value of the entire South Charlotte area.

Both Ray and myself have been fully involved in the development and growth of the Ballantyne area. We were residents of the community of Thornhill before the grading and road construction started.
Ray was invited to attend the first office ground breaking event and several topping out celebrations over the year where he was invited to sign the last iron beam for those buildings.
Ray is well known and respected for his knowledge of South Charlotte real estate. He participated in a review that evaluated homes for sale in the Ballantyne area by price point and location. These finding were presented to representatives of the Urban League review of the Ballantyne market area.
Ray's commitment to the city and the South Charlotte Ballantyne area are extensive and well known. He was honored to be assigned the Honorary title of Mayor of Ballantyne by both the developer of Ballantyne and elected city officials. Among his achievements are the following.

Ballantyne is a large 2,000 acre South Charlotte master planned "EDGE CITY" concept that was started in the early 1990's by the Bissell and Harris families. It consisted of several residential communities including Ballantyne Country Club, the business park, hotels including the Luxury Ballantyne Hotel, several shopping and dining destinations, schools both primary and secondary, health care facilities, parks and a Greenway nature trail. Today in 2019, under the ownership of Northwood, an international design team is creating an exciting new world class vision for the area. This new vision will add even more value to the homes throughout the South Charlotte area.
My focus as a Ballantyne area real estate agent began as the areas communities were being developed. Being able to show some of the first houses for sale in communities like Ballantyne Country Club and Ballantyne Meadows where I sold most of the first phase was an experience.
